6:15am Saturday Roubaix Update

The race is a go.

No snow accumulations overnight.  27 degrees now, 40 degrees is the predicted race temp at the start.  High of 46, just 10% chance of precipitation.  Currently, it's overcast, but there are breaks in the clouds.

The ground is frozen right now, but I expect that to change when the sun comes up.

2:30pm Friday Roubaix Course Update

The course is in excellent shape.  It was similar to my ride earlier in the week.  No grading has occurred.  There  are the usual pothole sections, but the dirt sections are smooth as of 2:30 Friday.

It was snowing hard on the drive out but nothing was sticking on the ground.

NRO says the race is on unless there is accumulation on the pavement.  I'll provide a weather update in the early morning.

I'm excited to see everyone tomorrow!

Thursday Roubaix Course Conditions

Currently the course is in similar condition to earlier in the week.  It's smooth with the usual pothole sections.  There is a spot on the dirt climb (on the lap) that would get muddy if it rained hard.

The temperature here is cold and we have a bit of precipitation coming.  I'll give my last update tomorrow.

NRO reports that the County is trying to hold off on grading.

Tuesday Roubaix Course Conditions

NRO talked to Missoula County on the phone.  They are going to grade some pothole sections on the course.  I will for sure ride the course two more times and report back on conditions.  

There have been a few Roubaixs in recent history where the road had been graded.  It can be rocky.  Pinch flats and flying rocks can be a problem on all the descents.  

If you are on the fence about which bike to ride, give it a few more days.  I will provide a full report with photos if the road gets graded.

Monday Roubaix Course Conditions

Just finished up a lap on the Roubaix Course.  The course is smooth with the usual pothole sections.  The road has not been graded yet.  This could change by the end of the week, but for now the course is fantastic.

I did see some County trucks out there, but they weren't doing any work on the course.

I'll update again as the race draws closer.
