Training Race is Saturday

The Clinton Training Race is this Saturday. This year the training race is a fundraiser for UM Cycling. Here's the latest for the weekend:

-I've gotten several questions about the group ride leaving Missoula Bicycle Works at 10:45. This is not mandatory. Last year we had a great ride out with MT Velo. It's a fun time to catch up with racing friends without hyper-ventilating. Also, with a short training race it's nice to get the extra miles.

-The race format has changed slightly. We will be scoring each group; A, B, and C separately.

-I will have a few registration forms at the start in Clinton for people who can't make registration in Missoula. The last thing I want to do is register people last minute before the race begins........but I like people from Bozeman. So, that's your warning....if your from Missoula you have no excuse to not register at MBW. Besides Alex is setting up a sick TV with Milan San Remo!

-Lastly, they old MTcx safety talk. The DOT race permit is strict on what kind of racing we can have on this course. It was too late to change the venue and so we're going with it. Basically, racers are on a group ride with follow vehicles. Corner marshals will be at every corner, however they are not allowed to officially stop traffic. Ideally, I would like racing to be single or double file. I understand racing is racing and I can't control everything, but please be safe and use your head. This is a training race; time to test the legs, meet with old friends, and be SAFE. Tamara is our head official, please listen to her for all the warnings before you take off. Megan and Dusty have marked all the potholes on the run in to the finish. Joey L and John W are the C group chaperons. Elliot is the B group chaperon. Bring your racing questions to them.

TTTT #2

We had a great day yesterday. 60 degrees and sunny skies . Brian Williams and Linsey Corbin came out and laid down times. Tamara took some excellent photos. Click here to view the album

Brian set a course record. However, he took a slight wrong turn. In the end I calculated at most that it gave him an extra 7 seconds. Therefore his raw time was 11:43 and his re-calculated time was 11:50. Regardless, that is a fast time. Even more impressive.....which Mr. Tack will like.......Brian set the time on a regular road bike. For those who don't know....Brian is going for gold this year. Last year he raced around Montana a bit and won the Zoo Town Throwdown. He's always had the talent and now he has the time and motivation. Bri-wear is shooting for elite nationals and the Oregon stage racing scene (Hood, Cascade, Elkhorn). Personally, I see nothing holding back him back. He has amazing natural talent. When he puts his mind to something not much can stop him. I still remember when he decided to make his own clothes (hence the nickname Bri-wear). Shout-out to anyone who remembers that.

Johnny Montana continues to lead the overall with a PR and second place. Rounding out the podium was newcomer Seth in the Jelly Belly kit (one to reckon with for the future).

Defending champ Prodigy showed up this week. However last week's winner Kellie took the gold and the overall title. Rounding out the podium was a much improved Kara, shaving a minute off her time.

UM tri continues to hand it to UM Cycling, 11 to 5.

It's amazing what the sun does. We had 20 PR's including 8 all time PR's. WOW. I'm looking forward to the collegiate weekend in Oregon coming up. Anyone got a travel budget for the coach in training?!?!
